Finally all home together

Dear patient and faithful reader,

I have not fallen off the face of the planet, nor have I completely abandoned my blog!  When I noticed that my last post was over 7 weeks ago, I was shocked that that much time had passed.

The last 2 months have been good – but busy and exhausting.  Having Aaron still working in Yakima while we got settled in Walla Walla was more difficult than I thought it would be.  I was so exhausted at the end of each day, all I could do was fall into bed.  My parents helped a lot, but we were just on-the-go quite a bit.  We traveled back and forth to Yakima several times, took a couple trips up to Spokane, and Matthew and I took a last-minute flight to Montana for my Grandma’s funeral.  The kids were great travelers, but I think Micah was getting tired of it by the end.  Last week, Micah told me, “I want Mommy AND Daddy at THIS house.”  I do too, Micah . . . I do too.

This past week, we spent the entire week as a family at the Vawter family cabin on Lake Coeur d’ Alene.  It was fantastic to be together as a family, relax, and have some great summer fun-in-the-sun.  Micah absolutely loved the water, and while Matthew wasn’t thrilled about the chilly water temperature, he did enjoy playing on the rocky beach.  We’ve got some great pictures that I will post soon.  At the end of the week, my mother-in-law and I hosted a baby shower for my sister-in-law, which was a lot of fun.

We are home now, all together, and very much enjoying it.  I can’t believe how much gets done, or how much easier it is to take care of the kids, cook dinner, etc. with 2 parents home!  Aaron has started to tackle some home-improvement projects, and made incredible progress fixing up the back yard swing-set today.  (Micah’s quote of the day:  “What did you say, Daddy?  Did you say ‘darn it?’  Do we say ‘darn it’ when we do projects, Daddy?  Do we??”)

My pregnancy continues to go well.  Our baby boy is growing, still seems healthy, and is very active.  It even looks like we may be able to have this baby in Walla Walla after all!  My blood tests did show that I am anemic, which my doctor has investigated and found me to be vitamin B-12 deficient, so I am taking some high-potency vitamins to try to improve that.

Can I blame the anemia for the exhaustion?  Or maybe it was moving . . . or taking care of 2 kids on my own . . . or being 8 months pregnant . . . or all the travel . . . o.k. – probably all of the above!  In any case, I apologize for not posting more regularly, and will do my best to write more.  Now that Aaron is home with us, things will be much easier.

Thanks for your patience!

Amy
