Matthew had his pre-op doctor’s appointment today, and also received his 2nd set of immunizations. He weighed in at 13lbs, 7oz! That’s 3 pounds in 6 weeks – an excellent pre-surgery weight gain. He is as healthy as he can be going into this, which will give him the best chance possible. He did really well with the immunizations, too – he’s such a champ!
We’ve managed to keep his NG tube in for 2 weeks + 1 day now! What a wonderful change from having to replace it every 3-4 days. Thanks again for the skin glue to keep those stickies on his face!
It has been wonderful to have Aaron home this week, but the time really flew by! We all enjoyed spending time together as a family, and the boys had lots of play time with Daddy. I’m so glad we had this time together before heading into surgery, where we won’t get any “family time” as we trade shifts being with Matthew in the hospital and being with Micah. We are pretty well packed up and ready to go – we will drive to Spokane Sunday afternoon, check into the hospital Tuesday afternoon, and surgery will be first-thing Wednesday morning. Even though we’re dreading the whole thing, we’re trying to think about how wonderful it will be when we’re done with all of this and have a healthy Matthew home again.
Thank you all for your prayers! We especially ask for prayers for all of us Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. We pray specifically for our surgeon, Dr. Siwek, and that Matthew could be spared the need for a pacemaker.
